My New York State of Mind
The New York City subway is one of the most quintessentially ‘New York’ places one can encounter in the city. There are a lot of images that scream NYC, but in thinking about how a space’s ‘sense of place’ shapes your relationship to it, I argue that no experience is so unquestionably here than a trip uptown-taking the A/B/C uptown en route to West 81st Street, (with the occasional unwanted detour because it turns out the express skips from 59th to 125th). Each house, store, block, and neighborhood holds personal associations and a history that is as ingrained in the city’s makeup as the street grid itself.

Between Two Small Towns
What makes Surry County so special to me, you ask? I can tell you that there are many reasons why this county is so special to me. For one, I grew up here and have lived in this area since I was born. I have seen many businesses come and go and seen improvements to Surry County as time marches on. Two special towns come to mind living in Surry County and those are Mount Airy and Pilot Mountain. Growing up, I have always loved the outdoors. I would roam and play in the woods, spending as much time as I could outdoors. Mount Airy and Pilot Mountain have beautiful outdoor parks. Although having outdoor parks is one special thing, but there are so many other things when living between these two towns.

Oregonian Empress
My favorite place in the world is a collection of colors. In the winter and spring, everything is blue and grey. People are nearly swallowed by their big coats, and hold their hot coffees close as they scuttle into schools and offices for warmth. Families come together for the holidays, college students huddle in libraries and study for finals. Birds quake their feathers in puddles, trees dance in the wind and send whispers to the rest of the world while water drops from their leaves to the cold wet cement below.

A Plane Ticket To Paradise
Welcome to paradise. "The Big Island," also known as the "Orchid Isle" is the youngest, tallest and by far the largest of the Hawaiian Islands. The Big Island, the least populated of the entire Hawaiian island chain, is the only island in the state where residents live in the shadow of active volcanoes. All across the island, wild orchids bloom in abundant profusion; as common as daisies in a mainland meadow.

New York Day 4
This morning we had a lie in. This was partly to do with the fact that some of the other guests kept on slamming doors in the night and the fact that we decided to go on a cruise and they didn’t start until 10:30 AM. We both agreed not to have breakfast before hand because of travel sickness. Food tended to make us feel worse as we both learnt on the flight to New York. The boat ride was going to be an hour and a half. It looped around the statue of Liberty and passed the sights of New York and Manhattan. We got on for free with our New York Pass. Such good value for money and I would recommend it to anyone else going New York. Stupidly I did not dress suitable for the boat trip. I left my coat in the hotel room and needless to say I was fricken' freezing.

New York Day 5
Today we got up early so we could have a walking tour around Central Park. I decided to wear my new Sketchers today. Unfortunately, this had turned out to be a mistake. The back of my heels was bleeding as soon as we got to the park. The walking tour was really good. The guide told us all of the historic places and where filming took place under some of the bridges. One of the bridges we went past was featured in one of my favourite films, Cloverfield. He knew where the expensive apartments were and pointed them out to us. Also, where local celebrities resided. I would recommend everyone take a walking tour. You will not regret it.
