A Desperate Game
You sit down on the park bench, feeling completely drained. Too worn down to even think of tears, you simply sit with your head in your hands. Another trip to the clinic with your wife, another confirmation that the cancer was spreading. You got her home and resting comfortably. She told you to go take a walk, she knows you always feel better after getting some fresh air.

He dipped his bread in a muddy cup of coffee and munched on it with the good side of his teeth. His right side, that is. The left one was no good, filled as it was with wobbly nubs, bent and crooked like old tombstones. Some probably still held the indents of Paul’s hungry knuckles.

It was a dull, overcast Autumn evening, a perfect day for a stroll before dinner. The gentleman went to his favorite coffee shop to pick up his usual, then crossed the street to sit in the sunshine as he drank. He had just settled down when something blocked his sunlight. He peered up at a rather tall man standing above him. The stranger smiled brightly at him, holding out a bag from the local sandwich shop.

Sonder
Salman's Shop, an odd cafe that served tea and coffee with quite peculiar dishes for the guests that sought sustenance from it. Kinds you wouldn't ever order with coffee or any of the teas sold there. Dishes like rotted fish gut fettuccine, jelly moose nose pudding, and pickled camel cream with lots of other unfitting alternatives.
