Fair Fare

taken for a ride

Nothing like a carnival, let’s get hand stamps, screw paying per ride—

fiercely fickle flat fee feels

like a bargain.

Let’s get dizzy on the Himalaya,

remove the ground beneath my feet

on the gravitron,

then strap me to the wheel

where Ferris becomes feral:

fear of falling

It looks fair from the ground

until Catherine’s wheel crashes down.

Love this. A sad ending but still so good. I wanted to go to the carnival just to get a turkey leg, but I didn't.
