Heat
Sweat is beading on my forehead. It's so hot out here I could bake cookies on the deck beside my pool. I'm eager to jump in, but I'm not sure if it would be rude to be in the pool when you arrive. Just as I'm about to disregard my manners and hop in, I dip my toes in the deliciously cool water and then feel someone shove me right in.

Everyday Monsters
It was later than Sam usually went to the gym, but he’d been held up by an end of the day phone call with his most annoying client. He had almost skipped his workout, thinking it wouldn’t hurt just to go home and veg out in front of a Netflix movie for once, but at the last minute, he’d turned into the fitness center parking lot, pleased with his own willpower.

Merlot
The red tears from my wine draped up and down the sides of my glass as I sat at my kitchen table once again, listening to them. I spun the glass around in between my fingers before taking another sip. For the last 2 months, it has been like this. I mean, who fucks every night? The only thing I do every night, is brush my teeth and that’s out of pure habit. I sat back and listened to them, but more importantly- to her. The walls, to my demise were made of pure drywall and the rhythmic tapping of the bedframe and her moans were the new melody of my household. Do you think it’s possible to fall in love with the sound of someone? I’ve never even seen what she looks like but she sounds like my soulmate.
