Summer Sun and Sunscreen

Know the truth

It feels like the weather is playing yo-yo.

A few days back

it was cold and dusty,

desert winds blowing.

Today,

it feels like a heat wave.

It is true,

the balance is broken.

the weather feels inflamed,

everything seems chaotic.

But despite all this,

if you rest under a sprawling oak,

you would know

even the sun seems harmless.

A huge tree,

with its millions leaves,

works like natural air circulation,

feels so peaceful.

But one day

I was in our driveway,

the sun was hitting neighbor’s glass window,

and the reflected heat

fell on my face

as if it could cut my skin like a knife.

From that you understand,

the sun is strong in summer,

but as long as we have trees

we should be fine.

It is the man-made structures

that reflect the heat

and make it worse.

We are not acknowledging that,

instead, chemicals are suggested,

in the form of sunscreen.

It may only be a matter of time

before the body becomes inflamed.

Note: Sunlight in mid-day sun is harmful, but no wise people will tell you that chemical sunscreen is harmless. All those chemicals seep through the skin into glands, setting the stage for inflammation and cancers.
