Hush, Hush

Stop Living the Song

By Seashell Harpspring Published a day ago 1 min read

Beliefs that never served me well,

With people who didn't wish me best.

When happiness was a distant ringing bell,

This time can fully lie to rest.

Adhering to morals others only pretended to live by,

While I am taking them seriously to heart.

Now hush hush can go to die,

Full of frustration as I part.

No more secrets or upheld images,

Life shouldn't be lived so stiff.

No more set ups or silly scrimmages,

It's time to move past the rift.

Buried are days of protecting those who shouldn't be,

Here is the time of pulling back the curtain.

The view of life from before now different to see,

Walking into a new perspective for certain.

Ah, this resonated so much:"Adhering to morals others only pretended to live by,/ While I am taking them seriously to heart." I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this way. Great poem!
