Becomings

A poem about becoming different things.

By Jason MortonPublished about 22 hours ago 1 min read

What have I become

Something in between

Always on the run

Someone no one else has seen

--

Hidden behind the mask

Carry it all upon my back

Keep it hidden til the last

How do we slip into the crack

--

Nothing ever meant a thing

Not a simple pain we shared

From the moment of the falling ring

There was nothing spared

--

Time wears on and on and on

And what have I become

Time it wears on, and on, and on for so long

Oh what have I become

--

The third act is upon us all

Such a long time ago

I hated to see you fall

But there was nothing you didn't know

--

For in between these voices of the dead

There was always something else to see

On fields stained in all those young one's red

Learning what a man is supposed to be

--

The shreikers cried all night

While we became men

Always such a fight

That was the way it was back then

--

It's all coming to bear

Because karma's such a malicious one

When I know what I've become, will anyone care

Or, will the world have simply won

--

For whatever I've become

Is it ever enough

A life held for karmic ransom

Was always going to be this rough

--

What have I become

There's nothing in between

What have I become

Something always unseen

heartbreaksad poetry
