Four major characters are leaving Salem

Days of Our Lives fans are expressing concern about all the shake-ups in Salem, with major cast changes. Nine characters have been affected by firings and recasts, and viewers wonder if more are on the way.

It was previously announced that Johnny Dimera (Carson Boatman), Chanel Dimera (Raven Bowens), Tate Black (Leo Howard), and Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzimis) have all been let go, and the actors have taped their last scenes.

Chanel and Johnny are out

No reason was given, and the storylines have not revealed any clues except with Johnny and Chanel. Previews for next week show Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) and Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd) attempting to stop the official adoption of "Little T."

Sophia is still angry that Johnny backed out of adopting the baby the first time. She did not desire to be a mother and is not stable enough to raise a child. Has she changed her mind about being a mom, or does she want her son to go to a different home?

Tate and Holly are leaving

If Chanel and Johnny must give up their son, they might leave Salem to raise the child that is on the way. There is also the possibility that the adoption will go through, but they decide to leave town anyway.

Holly and Tate both have what they believe are vitamins, but are really in possession of Sophia's prescription meds. Viewers are hoping that Sophia's dirty deeds and manipulation of Rachel will be exposed before she does more damage.

Some Days fans believe this storyline will somehow lead to Holly and Tate leaving Salem. Many who watch the soap have expressed their opinion that Sophia is the character who needs to go.

Five major recasts

Viewers know that Al Calderon left his role as Javi Hernandez to join the cast of Brilliant Minds, which was removed from the air but is now back. When Javi returns to Salem, Jacob Martinez will be portraying the character.

Lorelei Olivia Mote has replaced Alice Halsey as Rachel Black, and next week will be the last for Marissa Reyes portraying Ariana Horton. There has been no news on why the role was recast or who will replace the actress.

Days fans knew that Jeremy Horton's (Michael Roark) final scene would be on April 29. This disappointed some viewers who noted the chemistry between Jeremy and Stephanie Kiriakis ( Abigail Klein), but there may be a twist in this storyline.

Will Jeremy have a new face?

When Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) apologized to Jeremy in the hospital, he seemed jealous to learn Stephanie had not mentioned their recent marriage. When Alex asked Jeremy if he was still leaving Salem, he had a smirk on his face as he answered, "We'll see."

Soap spoilers reveal that Roark is a busy man and involved in several projects, so he cannot remain in the role. This has viewers wondering if the character will be recast. Fans believe that since Jeremy and Stephanie bonded and he rescued her, the two might fall in love again.

Marissa Reyes is out

The ninth shift took place a while back, and some fans may have forgotten in the midst of the current chaos. Billy Flynn left his role as Chad Dimera and joined the cast of The Young and the Restless as Cain Ashby. Conner FLoyd who portrayed Chance Chancellor on Y&R, will replace Flynn as the new Chad.

Change is constant on daytime drama, but nine major shifts in a small window of time have Days of Our Lives fans concerned. Four beloved characters are gone, and five have new faces. Still, the drama in Salem will continue, and viewers will keep tuning in.
