A Savory Meets Sweet Casserole That Blew My Mind

It’s delicious!

My Breakfast Queen Ride-Or-Die has blown my mind away with the weirdest combination of flavors.

When my sista said she was making breakfast-for-dinner, I got excited. What I wasn't prepared for was to be taken to a whole new level of delish. I'm going to be honest with you, I did not trust the process at first. When she told me what she was making and how it was done, I was skeptical.

But when she pulled that bad-boy out of the oven, my mouth was watering.

Dang, it smells good! - Willowmeana

When I put a steaming bite in my mouth, I was barraged by the most amazing combination of flavors.

And now, there's yet another household favorite dish. We are big fans of 'breakfast for dinner' in our house. Actually, most of my family is up for breakfast at pretty much any point in the day.

It can be a vegetarian dish, which will result in a sweeter flavor.

The best part is that it's easy to make.

Ingredients:

4 Tablespoons *1/4th cup or 2 oz* Cinnamon

4 tablespoons *1/4th or 2 oz* Stevia OR Sugar

1 tube of raw croissant roll dough OR raw cinnamon roll dough,

1 cup cheddar cheese plus an extra for sprinkling.

12 Eggs

1 teaspoon Black Pepper

2 teaspoons Onion powder or 1/2 a finely chopped onion

2 teaspoons Garlic Powder

Optional:

Sausage/Bacon/Ham- We used both bacon and sausage, since my people can eat, and I need as many long-lasting fillers as possible. If you are a vegetarian, then this dish can still be very yummy without the meat. You don't have to use all of them; you can choose to use one or mix and match.

Onions vs Onion Powder- Using a bit of chopped up onion adds to the flavor. If you don't want to use onions, you can use about 2 teaspoons of garlic powder.

Thyme - This may sound weird to a lot of people, but with the combination of cinnamon. But it's good. If you don't trust me, you can leave the thyme out.

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. *180 C* Grab your favorite casserole dish, and begin your preferred ritual of making sure things don't stick.
  2. Make your crossiant or cinnamon roll dough, or use a store-bought tube of premade dough and cut it into small portions.
  3. Get a small bowl and mix the Splenda *or sugar* and cinnamon together and mix until well blended.
  4. Crack your dozen eggs into a mixing bowl, and dip the pieces of dough into the egg, coat evenly, and then dip the egg-covered morsel into the cinnamon mixture. Save the leftover egg. Note: I use chopsticks to dip and batter things. Coat both sides.
  5. Line the casserole dish with the cinnamon-covered dough, putting about half an inch of space between the pieces.
  6. This step is only if you use meat in the recipe: Cook your bacon, sausage, and or ham most of the way through in pans on your stove top. Drain the grease from them by laying them on a paper towel or paper plate first. Cut into small pieces and then sprinkle them over the cinnamon-covered dough pieces.
  7. Put a cup of cheese into the leftover egg mixture that you used to coat the dough. Mix in the spices, including the leftover cinnamon sugar, into the egg, and then pour over the top of the dough and meat. You only pour enough so that the egg mixture comes up to the very top of the meat. Can use the rest to scramble.
  8. Sprinkle a thin layer of cheese over the top of the egg mixture, until just covered, so that the top is a crispy golden color when it's done.
  9. Plop them in that pre-heated oven and wait for about 20 to 25 minutes *or just until the top is golden brown*
  10. Take out and let cool for about 5 minutes before serving! Enjoy!
